For those who have an Ear to Hear

Updated: Jun 16, 2021

God is sounding the trumpet in order to point out some important information for those who have an ear to hear; His servants (John 10:27).

1) Doctrine – teaching/instruction pertaining to what God would have us know and how we are to live our lives; is of great importance to God.

2) Just as there is sound doctrine there is also “doctrines of devils

3) As sound doctrine stems from the Holy Ghost, so are there “seducing spirits” that are not of God; propagating false doctrines.

a. This is why Jesus had to state that he was the “true vine” [as there are also false vines]

b. 2 Corinthians 11:13-14

such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel [messenger] of light.

4) The bible teaches Christians to study to show ourselves approved unto God. Thankfully, God provides instructors, sent by Him, to perfect the saints (Eph. 4:11) and to safeguard the saints from various deceitful doctrines of men (Eph. 4:14).

5) Further understanding should be had that not everyone who studies, and or teaches God’s word is of God; is Godly.

· 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

· Berean Study Bible

For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.

· Amplified Bible

For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine and accurate instruction [that challenges them with God’s truth]; but wanting to have their ears tickled [with something pleasing], they will accumulate for themselves [many] teachers [one after another, chosen] to satisfy their own desires and to support the errors they hold,

Friend,

In a time where Christians should have more understanding than ever before (John 14:26), it is sad to say that to many have gone down the wide path of self-simplicity (Matthew 7:13-14, Isaiah 35:8, Jeremiah 6:16) no longer desiring the knowledge God.

Hosea 4:6 ¶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Proverbs 10:21 The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom [judgment].

The sad part about Hosea 4:6 and Proverbs 10:21 – is that even now, in the time we live, when light is present – people are still lingering in darkness (self-indulged ignorance).

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

There are many supposed Christians now who no longer desire to have God’s wisdom (judgement for purpose of examination) in their personal life.

God,

Please help us to continue to seek your knowledge and wisdom. And to apply godly wisdom to our everyday living so that we can follow the true doctrine of God...

Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Caught in the midst…

It is too easy to be caught in the midst of everything we do that we don’t actually take time to love God; to commune with God. 2 Timothy...
